August 26, 2006 New River Otters will enjoy a day on the New River. Many of these students come from the Sturgeon City Program with the City of Jacksonville. Other students come from local churches and rural Onslow County Schools. The program is open to students ages 12-17. The Otters will take to the river in canoes and kayaks. The "Protector" will also be at the site for river tours for those not able to paddle. Patrol watercraft will be on site for this event. Hot dogs, hamburgers and beverages will be provided for lunch. Dress appropriately for comfort and the warm weather. Bring a disposable camera to take pictures for the PHOTO CONTEST. 1st Prize will be $100.00, 2nd prize will be a pair of binoculars, and the 3rd prize will be a $25.00 Books-a-Million Gift Certificate.
